Orchard of Life

In the Orchard of Life,
Where flowers bloom and whither

He was Lavender…
A fragrance that healed,
The scars of my past.
A blanket of comfort,
That showed me love unconcealed.

In the Orchard of Life,
Where flowers bloom and whither

She was a Sunflower…
A gaze of gleam,
That even Apollo envied.
But, when the sun went down,
So did the dream.

In the Orchard of Life,
Where flowers bloom and whither

The others were weeds…
A living mess,
Waiting to be cleaned.
Under the subtle pretence of love,
Only sought to oppress.

In the Orchard of Life,
Where flowers bloom and whither

I am the ground…
The only constant,
Seemingly arid until the next drop of rain.
For I remain the same,
While others drop silent.
