Who will survive this pandemic
as
we watch
the news, primetime
bandage
our hearts
from beating wild
government
says, don’t
panic, trust us
the
doctors tell
a different story
we
get infected
with selective hearing
stand
in balconies
and light lamps
and
take pride,
in such heroic acts
we
are moving
towards an apocalypse
stock
our fridges
with unabashed privilege
seal
the windows
lock the doors
draw
the curtains
rinse the floors
close
all gaps,
doom can’t come
anyway
they say
disaster affects only
those
who don’t
have walled homes
people
in high
castles of gold
clap
their time
away and survive
wars, pandemics, riots
and everything vile.
