Beyond the dark,
Let there be light,
Even if it’s from a candle,
Putting up a fight.
Beyond the goodies on the table,
Let there be food,
Simple meals that fill,
A plate with nutrition all year through.
Beyond the laces and frills,
Let there be clothes,
Decent and colourful,
To cover the body’s folds.
Beyond the extraordinary quotes,
Let there be words,
Small, simple and meaningful,
That bring smile on faces new and old.
Beyond the once-a-year festivities,
Let there be daily empathy,
Kind gestures, actions towards the less fortunate,
Presenting voluntary sympathy.
