Pinjra Tod Responds to Allegations of Being Non-Inclusive

On February 18, nine women who were associated with the Pinjra Tod movement released a statement detailing their reasons behind leaving the women-led collective. The women belong to tribal, Muslim and Bahujan communities.

In the statement, published on LiveWire, the signatories accused Pinjra Tod of appropriating the voices of the marginalised and inadequately addressing the issues of caste, class, religion and race.

Pinjra Tod, on March 20, released an essay titled ‘Women on Edge of Time – Reflections From Pinjra Tod‘, responding to the allegations while contextualising the debate within the larger discourse of inclusivity in social and political movements in India.
