The Constant Voice Inside My Head

As I walk through life flying high and low,

There’s this voice I hear – telling me to grow.

As I run from end to end in a haze of confused emotions; wondering why I can’t let go;

There’s this voice I hear – telling me to breathe, take it slow.

As I cry through the piercing grey problems from up above,

There’s this voice that I hear – telling me to stop and feel the love.

As I run through mountains with a happy roar and an accelerated heartbeat,

There’s this voice I hear – telling me to stop, feel it, experience it, because this is the only time I’ll be in this ‘seat’.

Now I realise that this voice is my constant.

It runs through my heart, sings in my ears and loves me with its gentle touch.

I’m grateful for this constant.
